1. Verify system refrigerant type

4. Connect recovery machine and recovery cylinder

5. Recover refrigerant
Start recovery machine. Run until system reaches 0 psig (or per EPA standard for system size — systems >200 lbs have different recovery requirements). Log refrigerant weight recovered on the work order.
→ If recovery machine stalls or stops prematurely: check for moisture in system (filter/dryer may be saturated) or blockage in recovery lines. Do not vent — troubleshoot machine before abandoning recovery.
6. Verify system is in vacuum
After recovery machine stops, observe gauge reading for 5 minutes. System should hold at or below 0 psig. Log final recovery pressure.

10. Final system check
